How to Replace an replacement audi key fob G28 Engine Speed Sensor

happy-smiling-woman-with-car-key-driving-2022-11-17-00-15-14-utc-min-scaled.jpgIn this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is located at the top of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal the ECU via an uncolored wire (T55/49) which is then sent to the tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to correlate the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is so it can start spark and injectors accordingly.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code won't appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test as there are various connector pins, and each one has different functions. The most effective method to test it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms if the sensor is in full operation. If you're having issues with this component, look for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at maximum speed I noticed a significant reduction in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs. Three were drenched in gazoline, the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays shut. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 i get 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is in another place.

I also tried to reset the PID without success. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it runs fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when it is unplugged, shows an ice temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not sure what to do. I think I've all other possibilities out. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100, Audi Key Fob Replacement Cost 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or from a parts store. It is easy to test them - simply switch your DMM into resistance mode and determine the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines requires to know both the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you encounter a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will show the codes that could trigger an engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox and gears that shift faster than normal, and/or a misfire when you are in gear. It is likely that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you encounter any of these symptoms. They're inexpensive and easy to locate especially in the case of an Bosch model like ours. Alternately, GM's version this component is an option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many issues in your car. It is a crucial part of your replacement audi key Tt audi a5 key fob Fob (Https://Rahbek-Combs.Blogbright.Net/)'s transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is rotating. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear and transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, and also timig. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test the sensor for failure by checking continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. It should show approximately 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is a standard part across the audi car key 80 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best parts could be found in wrecking yards.
